Not enough Gunpowder....

If you ever travel to the Black Forest in the south west of Germany.... a little story you don't find normaly in your travel guide:

In Germany you hear people saying: "It ends like the Shooting from Hornberg!" What is it about?

Approx. 450 years ago the Earl of Württemberg wanted to visit Hornberg. Of course the whole place got prepared... they brewed the best beer and loaded ther guns to salut the Earl. Finally the day came, hot and sunny. The people became thursty, specially the "welcoming team". Dust and beer made them saluting everything passing through the valley of Hornberg: some cows and a horse coach. When the Earl arrived, all gunpowder was shot already - in vain!

The moral: don't shoot to early!

Anyway - if you are interested, Hornberg is a small town in the middle of the Black Forest,idealy located for montain biking, nordic walking and some nice pints of beer. And if you realy want to see the full story about the "Hornberg's Shooting" you can visit the Open-Air Theater of Hornberg. Several times during summer, the Hornbergers play the old story!

And they still enjoy their very good local beer!
